There should be no surprise that Link is consistently an orphan with no parents. It’s the archetype of the lost protagonist, alone and looking for his place in the world. Displaced, handed a mission/quest, grows, matures, saves the day. Repeat. The orphaned hero is a classic trope. Almost biblical.

The game looks very not fun to me. I was already not particularly fond of Breath of the Wild. I put a few hours into it before I got bored. Tears looks like it just doubled down on what i disliked about the previous game. So no thanks.

I must say this, while both theories of "Who killed Iji" are intriguing, id like to set a third one because both answers dont line up with some events. If he did it, then why kill the black knives? And if they did it, how? All the ones around him are dead. But what if we look to an outside force. Iji and Blaidd were tied to Rani through the two fingers, and as we have seen, there are more than one set of fingers. Godslayers are also unique in the fact they can use the black flames to teleport, or as we see on the bridge in Ranis quest, turn invisable. Now, this is speculation but also ties into lore for 2 other groups, The Black Knives, and the Bloodhounds. It has been stated that Black Knives would use Bloodhound Knights to track their targets, what if they had one find an ally near a windmill, a figure who could slay a godlike being. What if the Black Knives struck a deal with the Godskins. Turning invisable, teleportation, and even the fact they do also use the God Slayer Fire. And Black Knives would have information theyd want, Rani herself is now a Goddess, new skin, if not her then the fire giant god in the mountains may raise some interest. The only one outside of their reach to offer would be Melania, since we are the only ones to ever find her (All Knowing my rear). So information on new gods to skin, the Godskins would have every reason to strike a deal, and Black Knives are no slouches in a fight, plus with Bloodhounds being fast, the Godskin would only have two options. All speculation but it would explain why the fire, and why he also killed the assassins, but was still killed, if he was gonna join Blaidd, i feel it would be something more ritualistic, like a harikiri or sepeku, not burning yourself with godslaying fire.

I generally refuse to believe that Termina was dreamed up the moment Skull Kid put the mask on. That sounds like a cop-out from a lazy fucking company who doesn't want to figure out where to put a parallel reality on the 8 billion timelines the Zelda franchise has.

The beginning feels like what they do with some Mario games, where they show us a standard “Mario confronting Bowser to save Peach” moment, only to introduce a new villain or new plot twist for the spinoff, like Mario RPG. But Zelda is not Mario, I hope they at least attempt to hint at a timeline placement for the events.

Practically speaking the og links awakening launch years prior to ocarina of time, so ocarina took various inspirations from the game, like, the owl companion, the ocarina/song system (although ocarina expanded very much on it), and obviously Malon(marin) and her father. While I do agree on some aspects, it has been publicly said by Nintendo that with Zelda the game experience comes first, the story comes second. They don’t care that much about the story, which is why they make the story fit the gameplay and not vice versa.

I saw a theory that Radogan was a mimic tear of Marika. Maybe the headless children were actually just failed mimic experiments, heads removed to hide what Marika was trying to do. Would also tie in with the Eternal Cities.

Termina being a twisted version of Hyrule is a much more magical explanation than the truth of Nintendo just wanting a quick turn around for a sequel so they just pulled a bunch of Ocarina assets together

melina is a husk puppet of gloam eye'd queen and probably an emissary to her will, the godskins(and thus the gloam eye'd queen) are still loyal to the alliance of rykard, ranni and gloam eye'd queen as a trio, there is an emissary of the queen (godskin noble) at rykards manor which support this theory, there is also a godskin noble at ranni's tower guarding her corpse from intruders, their forces are most likely spread very thin but are effective elite forces, rykard provided the brunt of the manpower, godskins provided them with agents/strike troopers and ranni provided them with blackknife assassins, it would make sense that gloam eye'd queen and ranni (also possibly iji) made the blackknife assassins daggers together to kill godwyn, the blackknife assassins might've originally been loyal but either ranni went scorched earth on her former vassals or they're now disloyal to her and working for the two fingers she may have thought that blaidd would have to be killed but killing iji makes little to no sense unless she was cleaning up house in preparation for the age of stars which would make her one mean and manipulative bitch (which she doesn't seem like, she seems like her plans are very ham handed and the times she does try to manipulate you they're drops the napkin to make you pick it up tier obvious), i think it's more likely that she left the blackknife assassins holding the blame for godwyns death and they weren't all too happy to have been used and thrown under the bus so they may have either independently gone after ranni's vassals, joined with the two fingers for redemption and went after ranni's vassal or ranni the ultimate aspie mastermind went batshit insane on cleaning up house and just killed both of her "incompetent" vassals now that she no longer needs them and they were no longer reliable, iji made grave errors as a councilor, blaidd (allegedly) wasn't loyal due to programming so she does have some motivation to off them option 1. blackknife's went for revenge for being thrown under the bus under promise of clemency from two fingers option 2. blackknife assassins knew they were fucked and went down with a bang trying to take down ranni and her vassals with them option 3. ranni ordered the death of her own vassals for being unreliable, incompetent and no longer needed (thanks to player character showing up) option 3 is the most grim, she even jokes about adding you to the list so she kind of let it slip that she's a complete psychopath and you're only as dear as you're useful to her as a consort

You learn of their involvement with one another early on, as Melina gave Ranni the Spirit Bell to give to you. It *could* be Marika having planned far, far ahead but I truly doubt it, considering that Melina was at least for some time the one in possession of Torrent, and her and Ranni's shared ability, to the point that when Ranni says the words "Torrent's former master" as with how early it is in the journey, you will only recognize one person as possibly being Torrent's master, that being Melina. But yeah, tangent aside that's why they both have the closed eye

If they do anythong timeline related, my theory is it falls between Ocarina of Time and A Link to the Past.

I do find it odd how only Woodfall Temple and Great Bay Temple have mechanics inside the Temple’s themselves that influence their respective lands; the large wooden windmill-like platform that dispels the poison from the water in Woodfall and Great Bay Temple itself, with all the valves redirecting the water flow and large spinning fan, removing the murky water in Great Bay. Snowhead and Stone Tower doesn’t have any system or mechanics within that directly influences the surrounding areas besides defeating the Temple Bosses. I do find it funny how Snowhead’s Boss Room looks very similar to the Goron Racetrack albeit a lot smaller and simpler but nothing that would affect the weather. Stone Tower Temple doesn’t have anything correlating to the miasma plaguing its land although to be fair, the whole area had revolved around death and war between Ikana and the Garo’s. Igos mentions that Stone Tower Temple is evil and was recently opened where the Garo Master _does_ reside within along with the vampire-esque grim reaper Gomas. The main interesting mechanic of STT is obviously flipping the temple, or rather gravity, upside down. I thought maybe it was a way for the residents of Termina to approach and visit the moon, but since the Boss Room takes you to the strange, endless desert arena of Twinmold instead, maybe it’s more of a portal to a different realm or reality. That may be where the evil that plagues Ikana came from and that the Garo used the Temple against Ikana Valley/Castle.

Killed in the battle of Kokiri. The Hylians in typical fashion following ocarina of time looked to invade the Kokiri out of fear of their mysterious magic. This led to the Zora's and gorons joining the Kokiri but still losing to the Hylians due to links help. The armor is a combination of artifacts collected from his trips to negotiate with the races before inevitably using their own artifacts against them, however he was killed by the garudo who aided the Kokiri last minute and defeated the fallen hero of time. Despite this the Hylians successfully displaced all of them hence they are seen later as a shadow of their former cultures. But that's just a theory 😂

I'm so tickled they hired Jason Marsden (Max goof, Haku, Thackery Binkx, Boone) to narrate this ad. It really adds to it for me.
